ours is a 500/5,means 500 series and its a 5 berth bailey.a 556 could be a 550-6 berth.
Does it? or 5 metres long (500cm) and 5 berth?
Truth is there is probably some rational to numbers but seldom where letters are concerned? Take NS? a mate in the trade rang and asked what it meant, I looked it up in Glasses Guide and it's 'Near Side' as in NS toilet!!!!
392 cms is 12.86 feet - nearly 13 feet. Remember also it is the internal measurement so will be a tad shorter than the external measurement because of the width of the front and back panels.

Sorry - numbers having something to do with length doesn't work ... take the Compass Omega range.... 524 (4 berth) is 5.34m long. 525 (5 berth) and 540 (4 berth) are both 5.53m, and the 544 (4 berth) and 550 (4 berth) are 5.6m (all measurements internal). Measurements taken off Explorer website.
I didn't mean the number represent the actual length, at least all the time?, take the Bessacarr 550, this should be 18ft but has been stretched over the years by about 300mm or another foot.
Reason is the 550 became the most popular model so they kept the numbers the same regardless, this I imagine will apply to other makes
