how do you keep your curtains tight at the bottom and close to the awning

Assume you mean when the curtains are drawn? The previous owners of our awning have tied piece of string to tabs at the bottom and either side of the windows. Our awning is an old Bradcott Visa, not sure if these tabs are on newer awnings.

There's usually a length of elastic at the bottom and you tuck the curtains behind it.
