Hello All

Last trip away my blown air heating stopped working and I have so far been unable to get the 10A fuse to replace what's in the little pull-out tray (assuming it was the fuse). I guess question 1 is does anyone know where I can get one and 2, does it have to be 10A ?

The fuse looks like a brown 13A fuse that you might see in a household plug - ie not the glass kind.

In anticipation of the wife getting cold when we go away this week I could do with sorting this out !

Tnx

Dave

It's a standard 10A domestic fuse which should be red! still I doubt it will be the problem.

Most common is for the thermal resettable trip to cut out, this can be found on the Fanmaster itself behind the fire. The trip is exactly 9 inches down and 7 inches back from the top left corner of the gas fire as you look from the front, put you hand over the back and feel for a black plastic block on the end of the Fanmaster, in this block is a flap of plastic to press and reset the trip.

If you cannot feel the flap move 'at all' and it still does not work? then it's an early 1995 unit which does not have a reset switch, these used a 'one shot' thermal fuse, this will need replacing with a reset switch kit and you can only get these from me

Many thanks Gary. I hope you don't mind a couple of other questions - being a caravan newbie.

1. There appeared to be no power to the unit at all - no lights on the control panel. Would reset cure this ?

2. I cannot get a 10a fuse anywhere - B&Q, Halfords , 2 local caravan centres etc. My set of emergency fuses contains only glass - clear type - fuses - none of which fit the spur.

3. Is it best to replace the spur - in which case I can only find a 13a switchable spur.

4. Presumabley access to the back of the fire is usually by taking out the base of the wardrobe ?

I have a 1998 Bailey Pageant and the original instructions for the fanmaster show part number 606452 with a picture of the reset switch inside. So I'm assuming then that it's 'resetable' if this is the problem.

Many thanks - off tomorrow !

Dave

Well the answer to 1 is this is the problem, the lights need to work and go solid instead of flashing. 12v goes from battery/distribution board to the switch and then directly down to the Fanmaster, this means the switch should work regardless of being connected to the Fanmaster or not.

First then you need to find out if 12v is getting to the control switch and if not why?

The rest for the moment is unimportant but as you asked!

2 & 3 are related, although it's highly unlikely you need to replace yours, switch spurs are all rated at a maximum of 13A, you then select the lower value fuse to suit the application, in this case 10A and while were at it 3A or 5A for the water heaters spur. I've bought 10A fuses from B&Q! they are standard household fuses though, are you looking in the right place? In Nottingham there in racks of drawers with other small bit's and bobs so not on clear display.

4 is yes and yes resets were fitted as standard after late 95

Oh I see, you misunderstand, the 10A fuse is for the 240v side and nothing to do with the 12 volt control side.

You have no lights on the 12v control switch, first then you need to find out why this is before you worry about the 10A mains fuse, for the moment this fuse has nothing to do with why your fanmaster does not work.
