Doesn't matter what the speed limit is in other countries, in the uk there are set limits which regardless of if you think your speddo is faulty or not we should try to stay below. The limit is not set as a way of annoying you but as one that may just save your life.
On our way home from Leamington to Scotland we were passed several times by towers doing in excess of 70mph, I admit that on a couple of occasions I was doing 75-80 solo but even then we were still being overtaking, in one case by mr white van man complete with trailer bouncing all over the road, is it any wonder that motorways seem to have a lotmore incidents causing them to be closed these days.
What really got me was the number of vans over 3.5 tons in the outside lane of a three lane motorway, I always thought they were limited to the first two lanes, perhaps I missed yet another change in the laws.
When towing I find that 56mph on the motorway gives me the optimum fuel consumption, at 60 it can be as much as 10mpg worse! Worth thinking about with todays high prices!
------------- Still alive and kicking!
