when we ordered our motor mover we were told that it would be a couple of weeks.  I rang up about a week before the spring bank holiday weekend to find out if we'd be getting it before then, explaining about my hubbys problem with his back.  I was told it would most likely be after the bank holiday as they had non in stock.  But then 10 minutes later they rang back to say they'd managed to get one for us and it would be delivered and fitted in time for our weekend away.  We were well impressed so maybe once you have the van sorted you might get it sooner than you think, escpecially if you explain your need to have one fitted.  Good luck with the van hunting

We bought an Purpleline Enduro off EBay it was recommended by Wizard and many others on here. Its a fabulous piece of kit. £588 delivered to the door and they will give you numbers of local fitters who will come to your home and fit it for approx £120. My OH fitted ours himself it took 2.5 hrs .

Now after only 12weeks we have changed our caravan and the new one is much heavier. Thank god I bought an Enduro other makes might not have been able to move the heavier van but Endro will move up to 1800 kg

I don't know anything about movers as I always reversed, but one possible issue with sloping drives is that your caravan can ground.

Our slope is quite gentle, but the drive goes up- then the pavement goes down (It has a lowered kerb) and then the roadway goes up again.

I have no problem reversing the caravan in, but even with the jockey wheel off the legs would scrape. We had to build wooden ramps to level out the slope a bit to prevent damage.

I'd go for a caravan myself, then again, I'm not a fan of tents. as far as your question about movers is concerned, yes they do work. We have a Powertouch on ours & it does the job really well. I don't know how long it'll work on the full battery though, we only use it to move our van into the drive off the road so, it only has to go 50 feet max.

As far as reversing is concerned,, it'll come with practise. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/games/reverse.asp

I have used some of that cold setting tarmac to reduce the step at the kerb.  As we bring the van in jockey wheel first, there was a strain on the jockey wheel when it hit the kerb.  Using the mover and bringing the van in this way also stops the van from grounding - it used to when reversing.

Thanks guys.

I never thought about the grounding issue - but as Brianconwy above does, I will have to go up jockey first otherwise I won't be able to get in and out of the caravan..... so hopefully I won't ground it on the way up.

I have found a caravan that I'm very interested in that has a remote controlled reich (not sure of the spelling) mover fitted. Are they generally pretty good?  It also has a 115amp battery fitted, so it should last a while.....

If your drive has  a steep slope up into it you will find that if you go in jockey wheel first the van will tip backwards.  When we first had the mover fitted we tried taking it down our drive back first and the A - frame started lifting.  Me and the motor mover fitter had to use our weight to stop it.  If the drive isn't too steep then you should be alright.

Ours is a rhyno and also copes with kerbs and has a 5 year warranty, but haven't had a reason to use it and hopefully I won't have to call upon it.

If the drive is quite steep the problem will still be there.  We had a fc and it was always hard reversing it down our steep drive,  It is much easier with the caravan and mover.  They do have some plusses such as easier towing and plenty of space, but also minuses.  They are not as cosy as a van and there isn't the option of using a porch awning, which is an omission that I am surprised the manufacturers haven' adressed.

We have just bought a purpleline mover, we have not tested it yet, our caravan is on a slop.
