warden14, i think you have missed the point.
You may have been straight, but most salesman are not. (nature of the sales business i'm afraid)
Most salesman think they deserve a sale just because you asked where the toilets were.
Many a time i have stated that i'm just browsing and getting a jist of what's a available etc.
Next thing you know they are trying to sit you down talking finance agreements.
Some salesman will just not take no for an answer.
They take "browsers" as a challenge, and many should star in the film "Where egos dare"!!!
You ask for a price, and the next thing you know, they think you have promised them your first born.
When you say some customers had no intention to buy may be true, but have you thought that they got a better deal elswhere?
Or the fact that their caravan wasn't worth anywhere near what they expected?
Getting quotes wastes EVERYBODY'S time, so not many people would bother just for the sake of it.
Sometimes it is the simple fact that they cannot afford that expensive caravan, but thought they would see etc.
I give FREE quotes at weekends, and guess what?.... not everybody takes them!
It doesn't bother me in the slightest, as i know i'm the cheapest so it must mean they cannot or will not pay the price.
I tune my business to suit my customers, not the other way around.
If salesman are getting too many fruitless enquiries, they need to find out why.
Normally it means not enough info was available or the quotes too high, or browsers were forced into a "box". (if you were into sales you should know what that means )
