I am after some advice. Today on freecycle I was gifted a 1989 touring caravan, it needs a little restoration but all in all its not a bad caravan, and I was very lucky to get it. What I would like advice on is - I live in coventry and would like to move the caravan to a site where I can just leave it and go for holidays and weekends. Becuase its old my dad said it may be a problem because most campsites like new caravans on them. Although its a tourer I actually just want to keep it in one place because Im partially disabled and it would be easier, does anyone have an idea of what I can do from here?
First off, welcome to the site, secondly your dad is talking crap, ALL vans are welcome on sites, they dont ask what what make and model you have when you phone up to book, so dont be worrying about that.
Many, if not all sites have seasonal pitches where you can pitch for the season and some have onsite storage too, what i would do would be to search the local sites to yourself using the search facility at the top of the page, then contact them to see if they do seasonal and or storage.
Good luck.

Hi K and welcome to UKCS.
We have family in Coventry and when we visit we used the Somers Wood park in Meriden. It's not got anything on it but there is a nice pub a little way down the road.
For our next trip in July .We are booked into Holly Fast in Allesley (adults only) with a pub and golf club across the road
Have a look in the site search by putting these names in and you will get the reviews and contact details
Hope this helps.

Hi, and welcome to UKCS. Well done for getting a caravan from Freecycle - don't worry about the age of it, there are people with vans older than that who are accepted on sites. We have recently got a 1989 model which we refurbed and used for the first time a couple of weeks ago - when I phoned to book the site I was certainly never asked the age of it. Tbh, if any site did refuse you because of the age of your van then it would be their loss, not yours. Give Papa Pip a shout, he has a couple of vans older than yours so he should be able to put your mind at rest on that one.

If you can get down to THE INSIDE PARK in BLANdFORD in dorset they store it for £.4.50.a week and put it on a pitch on the camp site and put it away when you finish your holiday.Good place to look around DORSET.
Hi everyone I just want to thank you all for your advice, its certainly put my mind at rest that I can go some great places in it. Its a bit daunting when your new, but as soon as I can find a place to buy sofa cushions I will be off!!thank you to all and best wishes
I bought an old van off ebay and ended up having to buy new foam!
Have now got a newer van now but have just looked on the internet and I used this place www.efoam.co.uk they were excellent. give them a ring and they will tell you all you need to do. You can order online and it come very very quick. on the website it shows all the different shapes you can get. I think they suggested medium foam for the van, but to be honest it was rather too firm for me. they do memory foam too i think.
