Normally, if you haven't got 240V, then the water heater, heater and fridge will be run on gas. The 12v things will be the lighting, water pump, and anything else you plug in to the 12v sockets
You are best using a charger which gives you good amps, normally 6A or greater
Leisure batteries are designed to run flat, so that's not a problem. But it's better to give them an occasional charge even when not in use.

I think there's a few different ways of reading this Am I right in thinking once a leisure is drained or left unused for any period of time it becomes useless?
It should read Am I right in thinking once a leisure battery is drained and left unused for a period of time it becomes useless? Imo the answer would be yes . Although leisure batteries can be flattened , they shouldn't be left flat.
Or read Am I right in thinking once a leisure battery is left unused for any period of time it becomes useless? Imo the answer would be no. But it should be charged about once every month to keep it in good condition.
We have an Orange liesure battery ,only used it for one week severall years ago and its still in the garage ,reckon that was £70 down the pan then wondered why it smelled funny when we tried to charge it !
The lights will work of EHU when we are on that tho wont they ?
Dont think we will be staying on non ehu site as the van it to make taking mum easier so ehu will be a given ;)
Some caravan items ( as above ) need 12volts , if you don't have a charger(with transformer) they won't work , i'd recommend you check this before you go away .
