I was having a joke with you all. I am a safe driving, law abiding citizen who has a best friend who is a driving instructor, so probably know more than most the highway code!! I have done my homework re: towing etc and have towed trailers etc for many years!!
Please stop all patronising comments!!!
I'd love to carry on with this forum but i'm afraid if this 1st post is anything to go by, that some are not much fun and a little to uptight. Is it going to carry on this way or are we allowed to joke and have fun too???
Please don't think i'm being funny but camping is supposed to be a fun thing, isn't it???
People on the site do have a funny side to them maybe even saucy.
BUT
When it comes to serious matters such as towing caravans and which equipment ( maybe games too) is required then thats the time to sit up and listen.
Yes it is ok to laugh about people waking themselves up by dropping hardback books on themselves when nodding off to sleep.
NO
It isn't ok to laugh when a persons caravan is seen on its side on the motorway.
I understand you have done your homework regarding towing etc so well done to you.
Being a newer member of the site doesn't mean people can act all knowing about a subject ( by this I don't mean you) as people with over 1000 posts do still require advice on certain subjects from time to time myself included.
Sorry if this post offends anyone but it wasn't meant to do so.

I understand your points. I'm really interested in learning more about towing caravans,as i said, this caravan is a little older, but who knows next time may be a little newer van and I don't fancy mashing up either van!!
I look forward to learning more, and to be quite honest I feel really nervous about my 1st outing
I'm hoping they'll be some seasoned travellers near me to help if I struggle setting up. Thats another reason not too upset you all on here....what if i hook up next to ya

welcome, have fun, most fellow posters r friendly, dont take the odd ones too serious lol good luck
------------- the mighty rams!will return someday !!!!dont know when tho !
I towed ours yesterday for the first time since ordering it always been a trailer man before. The first thing you most notice with a caravan is bye bye rear view mirror its filled with a caravan odlly enough.Yes the speed limit is 60mph but I kept lower then that around the 50 -55 mark as thats what I felt comfortable with. The bigest thing I noticed was the suction from coaches more so then lorrys . The one thing I want most is to arrive on sight in tact so I will drive at the speeds at which I'm comfortable with if thats slightlyy slower then the rest so be it I'm looking after my investment and my family.
Well, I'm sure I'm going to get told to lighten up and stop taking things so seriously, but I'm going to suggest that Beerok purchases a current copy of the Highway Code and READS and DIGESTS the sections regarding towing, if he seriously had to ask if the speed limit when towing is 60mph!! I would also suggest he gets and acts on as much information as possible from the Clubs, etc, regarding loading his 'van, hitching, towing and manouvering.
I am sure beerok meant this as a JOKE !!!
And I'm sorry but the tone of this post is just down right patronizing. Get off your soap box.
And while we're giving 'advise', if your advising beerok to pick up a highway code , maybe you should pick up a dictionary and look up manouvering. (manoeuvering). (Cheap shot I know)
