Hi Dave

Most 14 to 17 inch LCD TVs run on 12 volts , I use a 15inch LCD which cost me £116 from Comet ..... But make sure its the type of TV that uses the 12 volt power supply ....... Then once you have the TV ,you need to make up a power lead , which intails of a 12 volt caravan plug, to a , DC plug ....These Type of TVs need about 4 Amps to run ........ Or if you have a 12/14 inch CRT type of TV . Use a 12 Volt inverter , which cost about £20 , But dont use the 12 Volt outlet from your caravan , as this will blow the fuse , as the inverter needs about 20 Amps surg , for about 1 second , but thats enough to blow the fuse , the inverter will run at about 4 to 5 amps...... Just conect the inverter direct to the Battery.

Hope this is of some help.

Some LCD tv s need a regulated 12v supply ( caravan voltages vary depending on battery charge and load.

I use a Bush 15inch 12V/240V LCD Flat Screen.

For the 12v supply it's wired direct to the Caravan Battery with heavy duty cable to reduce voltage loss as the battery is long way from the TV and some electronic TV's are voltage 'fussy', below a certain voltage they won't work!

It doesn't take much current to run on battery, and along with the Pace Digi Box works well in the UK & abroad.

Just after we got it they brought out the next model which has built in DVD PLayer.

Oh well technology moves on!

Enjoy whatever you get.

We have a proper dual voltage lcd tv from maplins. It runs on both 240 the camper battery or directly from the car. It is also digital and analogue. Maplins sell them for 199 but regularly reduce them to 149 we bought ours from a dealer on ebay for 100 and are very pleased with it.

Dont forget, make sure it will work when we all change over, unless you are going to get a free view box, or a dish.

If you are buying LCD the picture is best when directly facing the tv.  Some have better tolerance than others.  Ours is a cheap one from asda with DVD built in and if you are not sitting perpendicular to it the picture is very dark.  Some claim viewing angles of up to 176°,  but even with these the sweet spot is always directly in front of the screen.

Above DVD.  At least with this type you can angle the screen for best viewing angle.

I have a 17" MobileTv integrated into my new van and its best described as disappointing. More realistically as very disappointing.
I have also a 15" SONY Bravia that I used in the previous van via an inverter when off EHU.
The SONY has a much better deeper coloured picture but where it scores hands down over the MobileTv is in the ability of its digital tuner. At some sites where we previously got good pictures with the SONY the MobileTv just cant cope. I have taken both and proved its not the aerial its simply down to a poorer TV.
Seen the SONY on offer recently for £200. It takes about 35watts into the inverter.
