I also wouldn't dream of putting any more business Wandahome way.
In 2004 I bought a new Coachman VIP 520/4 from Wandahome at Knottingley, my first van and my local dealer. After a few months I realised that I preferred a fixed bed, went to Wandahome at Knottingley and asked about part exchange on another new van, the price they offered was only 70% of what i paid 8 months earlier. I decided to keep the van. Later that year I had the misfortune to badly damage the back panel, which had to be replaced. I arranged to have the job done at Knottingley and shortly before it was due to go in, they informed me that I had to take the van to South Cave for repair as they were short staffed at Knottingley. I took the van to South Cave and was told the repair would be less than a week. Ten days later and no word from Wandahome, I rang to enquire and was told they were waiting for a new window to arrive. When I queried this they said the window was broken, I knew that it was definitely not broken when I took it in but they said it was, I was 40 odd miles away!! 2 weeks later I rang again, still waiting new window, I was confused by this as Coachman caravans are made at Hull, only a few miles away, but Wandahome said the window had to come from Germany, getting really p**s*d off by now, I asked if the guy was walking with it. After they had my van for over a month I received a call to say I could collect my van, I informed them I would there within the hour. When I arrived the service manager totally blanked me and sent a young lad with my keys and to collect the cheque for excess. When I got the van back to storage I checked it and found the repair to be of poor standard and amazingley, they had obtained a new window with the same CRIS number on as the so called damaged one!!! I took the van to Knottingley, the service manager there agreed verbally with me that it was a poor repair standard, but explained they are the same company and would'nt put it in writing, he said they could also etch CRIS numbers on to new windows, but when I said yes, but new ones would be brighter than the faded ones, he said he had to make a phone call and disapeared to never return. I realised I was wasting my time and had a van that I was now unhappy with. I attended the Lawns show and whilst looking at new Coachman vans, was approached by the Wandahome rep, and whilst I had no intention of doing business with them again, I let him give me a quote against a new 535/4, which again was terribly low. I was then approached by another dealer, offered £1,000 more, a discounted mover and a free 15" flat screen TV. I took up them up on the deal and mentioned my thoughts of Wandahome to him, his reply was "another, thats the fifth customer from Wandahome today". I have been totally happy with my new dealer since and will be buying a second new van from them in the near future.
