Wondering if there is a knack to parking a caravan on a slope?
We have 2 drives, just got our new (to us) caravan last night, got it on the front drive but bit of hassle as its gravel and the jockey wheel dug in, also the pavement is quite high and we scaped the under bit of the van think was the spare wheel holder?!
Anyway our tarmac drive at the back of the house is on a slope going down to the garage, this would be better, but I am scared uncase we couldn't stop it with the brake and it crashed in to the garage! what should we do? (Its not for long as we are going to be storing it as OH's work in about a month)
We only got our first van at the end of Feb and we love it.I'm sure you will have loads of great holidays.
Just remember the hand brake does NOT work if the vans going backwards.
You need to put it a wee bit further back than you want it. Then bring it forwards and apply the handbrake. Then put chocks under the wheels as a safety measure just in case the hand brake fails.
Hope this helps

You can zig zag it if your drive is steep. That is, let left wheel go 12/18 ins chock. let righ wheel go 12/18 ins. then left; then right and son on. Just within the comfort zone of two people. You can reverse this way, on quite a step slope. Take care, mind.
Find a piece of timber approx 3"x4" and the width of the van and place this across the drive, and let the van steadily run down to it, if you use a piece the width of the van you have no chance of missing it rather than using bricks etc.
------------- Doing as little as possible for as much as possible...
We have a sloping drive too. OH reverses the van from the road into the drive and down, It also has to go at an angle as well. Always the danger of catching the wall. As soon as I tell him he back far enough. I place chocks behind the wheels and them we do whats necessary and unhitch. Its then in a position to hitch up and pull out for our next trip. However if it is going to be stored for winter. We then have to manhandle it down the side of the bungalow and onto level ground.
------------- Don't know where I'm going but will be happy when I get there.
When we reverse up our drive the OH calls out rhe name of our neighbours as to which direction to go. The names have changed over the years as folk have passed away, but it amuses our friends as frantic calls come down the driveway, "Beryl, bit more Beryl, now Dylis........"

It should do if adjusted properly - mine certainly does
If funds run to it then a motor mover would be the end of your problems. We have a sloping drive and the mover copes brilliantly - no more smelly clutches erc.
