Kevin, theres a very good shell service station and cafe at Sutton Scotney on the A34 dual carriageway .When entering byepass fuel pumps and cafe buildings, leaving them on your righthand, you will then find a very large open parking area on the right that is clean and tidy with only a few commercials in it. you'll have plenty of space and its quiet. From Notts should take about 2`hrs 30 to about 2`hrs 45. I'm guessiing you are travelling early evening. Your only traffic will be leaving the M40, and the Oxford byepass that is the A34.
Have a good trip and a safe journey , Graham R.

Kevin, I'm sorry I forgot that you were in dusty Rotherham. Add on the time to going under the A52 ,Notts/Derby road, [a mile from where I used to live] And that will correct the time scale to my previous posting.

Beware that there is a 50MPH speed limit as you come off the M3 southbound joining the M27. There are standard speed cameras along the stretch of motorway down to Jnc 3(m271). It`s the same on the eastbound side when coming back.

I would imagine 100's per day. I travel the M27 nearly everyday & there are always cars passing me & I'm travelling at about 45-50mph. The cameras don't flash, so you wouldnt know you've been caught till you get a nice letter through the post.

We frequently travel from Poole back home to Doncaster, so I presume you'd be taking the same route to Weymouth as we take back to Poole. Sutton Scotney and Rownhams are just service stations with fast food, and this being a tourist area, many more have the same idea, so they are quite hot on the 2 hour limit. If you were planning to stop at Rownhams, then you're almost on the A31in the New Forest. There's several sites adjacent to the A31 which would be convenient for an overnight halt on the way to Weymouth.
