Have I missed something?

I thought the original posting was about the watertightness of the front locker.

How did the subject of grab handles breaking away come on the scene?

Sorry if I'm being dense or appear to having a senior moment............................

Vic
Hi Vic, I think these good folks were trying to save a newbie (me) from possibly making a schoolboy error and making holes in my new pride and joy! Although I did sulk for a while after getting told off.......

Don't let it bother you. Over the several years I've been a contributor I've been flamed, torched and even suspended for airing views that don't necessarily sit comfortably with the majority.

The beauty of this forum is that I think everyone is well intentioned, and it is a well known fact that with this medium as in email, unless the contributor's face can be seen, comments can easily be misconstrued/misinterpreted.

I think it's useful if you can use the emoticons to convey the temperature of your message.

Vic

Yep; been there as well.  Tell the truth, because of that I just cast a cursory glance through the forums, and, usually, only post if I think I can help someone, or get a bit of advice for my own purpose.

Bertie.

I checked my front locker last night out of interest and it is as dry as a bone. It has a rubber seal all around the edge of the cavity opening and everything inside the front locker including the awning carpet was dry and clean!   Considering it is a 16 year old Fleetwood Garland I thought that was good.  Mind you, never had any problem with water getting in anywhere except when my nephew recently washed the van with the hose pressure too high and it got though the front windows a little bit.  Couldn't moan as I appreciated his help particulary as he washed the roof and I refuse to go up a ladder (a big chicken!)

Cheers

Dave

It certainly does seem to vary between vans.  I'm now happy that mine is not the only one which lets water in thank goodness!  We gave ours a wash the other day and discovered a small leak in the skylight in the bathroom.  It is just a slow drip which falls directly downwards onto the lino floor so hopefully nothing much to put right!
