Let me know if you do decide to sell your van... seriously! (Hope you don't think me too cheeky - don't want to offend, but didn't want to miss the opportunity!
We looked at the Bretagne also. It is a lovely van - wider and longer than the Ranger (but then you need to tow it!)The windows are also a better quality and there a three windows at the front rather than one large window.
However, we were unsure about the door position of the Bretagne - as you would have to walk past the kitchen to get to the front seating area, and with children I didn't think this would be a good idea.
It's hard to know what to do - this is your holidays for the next xx years! It came down to finance in the end for us. Hope this helps in anyway.

Look at this months Practical Caravan. There are three or four other van makes comming in 2009 with triple bunks.
Thank you for that, I'll buy it tomorrow.
Just bought a Disco for less than I had planned so have a bit more to spend than originally thought - Yipee !
We have the ranger 550/6- 2 bunks agaist the back wall and dinette turns into bed.
We have seen the ranger with the triple bunk on the side.
We prefered the one we have got (ducks from all the people throwing things at us)
We thort there was more cuboard space-espcialy in the kitchen-on 550/60 the fridge is on the other side.
We have a good space for telly etc over the fridge.
We have a good locker space under the rear bunk-plenty of room for chairs and cables and stuff.
We also like the door at the rear, feel it leaves us more space in the awning, having tables etc in the middle rather than having to leave a walk-thru.

I agree with your comments, its the partition I liked in the 540/6. I am waiting untill the Birmingham show untill I make up my mind. The new Ranger Series 6 will be there.
Saw a few pictures of the new Ranger series including the new Ranger GT60. The Ranger GT 60 looks great with new smart grahics, lighter wood. It appears to be on par with the series 6 pageant with bits borrowed from the series 7. Not sure of the price or weight difference compared to the current Ranger but it looks very impressive. Hopefully Bailey will put a microsite on their website soon.
There should be some good discounts around on series 5 Rangers.
We are considering selling, we would be gutted to do so after only having it for such a short time, but I think our only option otherwise is to put it into storage for 2 years until we return. It would be a shame for it to be unused for 2 years.
Anyone want to buy wrap around seating for this van? ,
Sadly have part exchanged our lovely van, so have loads of nearly new kit for sale including full awning with flooring. Please contact us or see ads on this site.
Hi. How much do you want for the wrap around seating? I presume it is the pacific blue fabric. We bought a set recently and love it, but the set was mising one of the short arm bolster cushions. Ideally we would like to purchase just this, but are open to suggestions.
We loved the idea of the triple bunks but after seeing the 550/6 we went for that instead (they don't do that model now, so we bought a 2004 model).
Bunks were very close together and narrow in the new 540/6 and the end of the lounge looked unfinished, I think because there was no drawer unit - just a mini drop-leaf table. I suppose you could ask for one to be fitted though.
