Hello everyone. This is my first post, but have been reading your great message boards for a year or so now. Thanks for all your helpful info.

Does anyone have a 1997 Avondale Avocet? We've just bought one - with no handbook! Our friendly man is trying to fit twin electrics to our car, but wants to know which wiring system the van has, as apparently things changed in 1998, but some manufacturers changed in 1997. (See below.) We have no idea & Avondale are on their holidays until 4th August, which is after we hope to be in Cornwall in our new van!

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/pdf/TowBarWiringOct2006.pdf confirms that "Caravans built between 1 October 1979 and 31 August 1998 - Towing vehicle needs both 12N and 12S seven pin sockets. Note that some caravan manufacturers adopted changes to the 12S system prior to their formal introduction from 1 September 1998. Check carefully (via the handbook or dealer) the precise specification of 1997 and pre-September 1998 models."
So we're stumped unless we can find someone else with a handbook.
Sorry for such a long first post, but we'd would be really grateful for any help anyone could offer.

Hi there and welcome to UKCS.  I believe Avondale are still going so maybe put a call into them, linky poos here -

Hopefully they will have some historic data and will be able to point you in the right direction.

Happy caravanning.

Thanks for the link Ali, but Avondale are on summer shutdown until 4th August & we need to know before then as we are booked to go to Cornwall!

Oh no!  Sorry I can't be of any further help, hopefully a fellow Avondale owner will be along soon.  Didn't realise factories still had factory fortnight lol, how quaint!!
