I am about to book a campsite and it is asking if i want 5amp 10amp or 12amp, which do i need to hook up our caravan, we will be using it for lights, fridge and t.v.
If you work on the calculation that each amp of power equates to 230 watts, then you should be able to work out what you will need by the power consumption of each appliance.
5A = 1150 watts
12A = 2760 watts

12 amp, why worry about switching things on if you can opt for an adequate supply. 5 amp is of very little use. If there is an extra cost to 12 amp, you can set this against the price of gas you would use on water heater etc.
The higher the better it saves switching things off to put other on. OK you still need to be carfeul on how many appliancies you have on at the same time

never heard of it happening before cant see the point really as surely it involves more set up costs for the site? i think really tho you get the same amperage going thr but they just meter you, so one at your limit then its getting turned off
