Wow, I thought this was a friendly site. We're going to Scotland for the first time too in september and had thought the same, not because we think you are all aliens an some strange land but because of visiting other places in the UK i.e. Wales and the Lakes we know there are certain areas which would be extremely difficult to navigate with a large vehicle.
I certainly hope the posts on this site aren't a true reflection of the hospitality, maybe we'll stick to friendly Cumbria!
Take no notice of those who cannot read whats written. The rest are truly okay! We've done all over Scotland towing a large van following my father towing an Eldiss van, and where he got to, water couldnt. I'm sure the roads have improved a lot since we last went over 20 years ago.

Some people have such sad little minds!!!
The reason I said what I did was simply because some English folk, particularly southern English folk who've never been north of Watford Gap, still think that everywhere north of Glasgow and Edinburgh is some sort of wilderness criss-crossed by ancient tracks, or as they might call them, bridleways. They're quite surprised when you tell them that there's a modern dual-carriageway all the way to Aberdeen nowadays!
And the OP seemed to think that his 25' motorhome might be a bit large for some northern roads. A little over 30 years ago, I towed a then ancient Fairholme up and over to Skye, then back to the mainland, turned left and went all the way up, along, and down to Golspie on the Sutherland coast, the total length of the outfit being about 30'.
------------- David.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!
