Does anybody have a 2008 avondale caravan, I want to know if they have solved the problems they had with the cracks they used to suffer with on their plastic panels.
We are looking at the avondale 556/6 and the 510/5, not sure which layout to go for.
Hi there i have just picked up my new 2008 Avondale Dart 556/6.After tons of research questions etc As i understand it on the 556/6 the earlier ones did have problems and all dealers and owners i spoke to have said that they did have problems but the newer 07 and 08 models would be ok.If you look at the design of the 556/6 ypou can see that everything has been swapped about early models have the rear windows on the door side but the 08 have got the rear windows on the opposite side.
The 556/6 seems to be the better layout for us we have 2 kids who will use the 2 end fixed bunks then they can get up in the morning and have the breakfast on the side dinette while we have a nice lie in on the double at the front.I suppose it is whatever suits your needs.I have to say that so far we are really pleased with ours and are away for the bank holiday weekend, hopefully the weather is good.
Hope this helps
Andy

We bought a new Dart 475/4 back in April this year. Only problems so far have been toilet door sticking and locking my son in! We love our van and hope to keep it for a long time yet.
However met a couple in Devon a week ago who had a brand new 630-6 and it had endless problems including 12 volt not working (battery not charging), kids CDs in bunks packed up aeriel not working and they felt very dissapointed. Their dealer sounded crap as well - he won't even look at van until he has spoken to Avondale and he claims they are all on holiday.
Most of these problems are linked to other manufacturers parts so not entirely the fault of Avondale. I suppose each make of van can have its own faults the same with cars - you just have to hope you don't get a "Friday" van! If you get one you hope you have a really good dealer who can sort it. Your dealer can be just as important as the van itself,
We have just spent our first 8 days in our new Avondale Argente 555 and had a similar problem with the battery not charging. We initially thought it must be a fuse blown but when we read the book that came with the van, it turns out we had a not turned a switch on the right way in the van. Having caravanned for about 17 years with Swift caravans, we felt a bit like amateurs again having to read the instructions, but at least we got the radio working again!
Apart from a few very minor hiccups, we think the van is brilliant. Very impressed with the quality and layout.
we have the 2005 dart 556/6 and although there is plenty of storage space there are some problems the door panels on bathroom and wardrobe come away to easily repaired during service now resorted to glue gun to fix myself as they broke first outing this year also bathroom floor on ours needs replacing as it has cracked all around the drain there is also no way of seperating off the bedroom for dressing etc as it is just a curtain acrooss the bunks the bailey ranger triple bunk looks better as there is a dividing door across the kids section also have to prime taps everytime we set up had 4 other vans never needed to do this before

Yes we did exactly the same thing as well! Mentioned this to the lady in Devon but she knew about the switch and it still wasn't working
Hi I have a avondale opey 2001 until just now everything electric worked.
I've lost power on everything, I have it plugged into the mains but still nothing no lights heaters tv nothing battery doesn't show that it's charging.
Checked all fuses in caravan under the seats all perfect (is there anymore I can't find)
Changed the fuse in the plug what's in the mains still nothing. I'm stuck
Please help am I missing anything?
Hi Brent34 - Welcome. I guess you found this via a search, but replies from people who last posted in 2008 might be optimistic
Since nothing whatever is working, did you check that all circuit breakers in the van are in the 'On' position?
If so, start at the mains supply - if that is home, check the socket works with another appliance. With mains off, work towards the van - checking every plug and socket, for loose screws, detached wires etc, in your ehu or extension cable.
If you are plugged into a campsite hookup you might have tripped the supply, check that. Otherwise dismantle the plug & socket on either end of your ehu lead & check a cable has not become disconnected inside.
