Do the continental vans have less facilities on board? I thought the washroom / toilet and cooking facilities were inferior to UK models, but I might just be misinformed.
If this is the case then that would but me right off continental vans as we enjoy our rallies.

I think you may find that Adria caravans for the UK market are built in the UK at the Fleetwood factory in Long Melford Suffolk.
I believe that ther is a business "tie" with Fleetwood who are the importers of Adria vans built in Slovenia for the UK market.
Fleetwood market the Sonata a van based on the Adrias, Im not sure if they build this model in the UK or whether Adria build this van for them in Slovenia.
In Spain the law is if a caravan weighs over 750kg it must be ITVd (MOTd) so there are lots of caravans made that are four or even five birth and 750kg or less, can't really comment on quality though as we have an old sprite. Also for that reason small caravans really keep their price over here.
Thanks for the comments so far. Re the Adria build - I thought that they were built in Slovenia too, but I am not 100% sure.
Re Jennifernn. We would like a fixed bed but can't make our mind up re the rest of the vans make up so we would be reasonably flexible however you make a good point re having an idea as to a required layout.
Re Ginaherd. How heavy is heavy ??
Keep your thoughts coming, I am not totally anti British .......... yet!
I have a British caravan that is permanently in the South of France. There are many differences in their manufacture if not intended for the UK market. Generally the UK van is designed to keep the warmth in whereas the european vans are designed to keep the heat out! I found this out at my own cost. When my Coachman gets warm- boy it takes an age to get it cool again-even with blackout blinds etc . Apparanatly its all to do with the way that we insulate caravans. One very good thing that I will say about British caravans is that if they spend long times in a warm climate they last forever as they were built for our severe climate. We still have a reputation for quality. There are some caravans where I store mine that still have gas mantles and must be at least 30 years old! If Heartbeat ever wanted to do some filming -thats where they all are!

We quite fancied a German built van too, but they did not make one with the layout we wanted (fixed bed end bathroom).
I would decide on the layout first, then see who has what you want.

------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
