Hi, this might sound abit of a odd question but, we are trying to sell our caravan,to get a end bedroom,as kids are no longer kids and dont want to come. We are having problems finding a caravan with in our price range,( around £ 3500) so could any one tell us if thats possible?? or do any one know some good sites ??? apart from ebay!!!!
When i was looking for a caravan i found ebay helpful in finding the layout that i wanted and getting an idea of how it looked inside and on www.caravanfinder.co.uk which was helpful in deciding what layout i wanted. My local dealer only had caravans for sale at £3,500 and above and i only had up to £2000 to spend. It seemed to take ages to find our caravan but eventually i found exactly what i was looking for an hours drive away on autotrader. I looked on loads of different sites everyday but can't seem to recall any other than preloved and autotrader. It's easy to say but be patient and what you are looking for will come your way.
Have you looked at your dealers to get an idea of what you want?

The end bedroom with the fixed island bed and centre washroom is a more recent layout. So if that is the one you mean you will struggle to get one for £3500. At that price it would be probably a 10 year old van, and if I remember correctly, that layout was not around 10 years ago.
Thanks for your repiles, they are both very interesting and helpful, making us think now thou, maybe we should stick with what weve got and not sell, only wanted to sell to get end bedroom, and if they are a recent thing, not much point. THANKS AGAIN
An option to consider would be a 5 berth with the smaller double at the rear which you can keep made up as the "bedroom", using the front dinette as the "lounge". Plenty of those around in your budget.

Thanks Caz, that what you just said is what weve got now,and we tried it but the bed was too small compared to the big one at the front and with the curtain shut ,it just looked scruffy, but thanks alot for the suggestion
Thanks Jennifer again, yes would be good if any one knew... we would know what to do then!

I have a feeling that we have been told in the past that the first fixed bed caravans appeared in 1999 / 2000 but I don't think there were that many to start with.
The first rear island beds were, I think, by Swift and they came out from the rear off-side corner, however, you could hardly get round past the bottom corners.
With regard to Bordercaz's suggestion, both Swift and Elddis did a layout with a rear bedroom where the double could be left permanently made up, and there was also a wardrobe at one side and a chest of drawers/cupboard unit opposite which then gave you a bit of floor space at the side of the bed. The area didn't simply have a curtain, but decent sliding wooden doors.
One model was the Swift Conqueror 640, which we had and used as I've suggested.
Hi Jim & David, many thanks for your advice & help,at moment still not having alot of luck, been to see afew where people have made them up there selfs, but dont look right, we will keep searching. thanks again
