Before people start getting upset with the police on this, remember that Graham had just ONE case to deal with and NO paperwork to complete regarding his travells. Only when you have shadowed the police for a few days do you really understand how much time they are forced to spend behind a desk completing forms and reports - they are even less happy about it than us.

Incredible - As others have already stated, I read your account and am inspired by your commitment to your family.

Apart from all the comments about 'should have' , ' could have' and 'would have', you are a living legend for finding the needle.

I for one have taken one simple message from your story, we should acknowledge the material effect, damage, stolen belongings, financial costs etc, but what should motivate us all is your primary goal, the recovery of what represents the important things in life. No-one has the right to take that away.

Hi Just another quick NO COMMENT in response to the Police TIME AND WORKLOAD.

It is not the Individual Police Officers who are to blame for any lack of urgency etc. Although it is very frustrating when you believe they are doing nothing. A couple of minor mistakes were certainly made in my case Re instructing Kings Lynn Police to act quickly on two occasions. No evidence apparently gathered when the Transit was Found nor I believe from its Driver by Searching the Van his Dwelling or other property for evidence namely, OUR Possessions. (Which they never took details of in any case)

The time it took the Police to respond to our initial phone call.

The speed in Getting the REG No onto the National Number Plate ID Cameras.

And actually interviewing me to see if I had any further info or leads as the weeks progressed.

But we did speak to approximately 22 Officers over the period to one degree or another

Eight Constables, Four from Kings Lynn, Four from the Docks, Three Sergeants, Two New Caadets, A Lady Constable…

annnn Inspector and a Giipsy with a Pear Tree

1 1/2 hours I waited in the Travellers Camp for the Police  to Appear and help me release the Caravan. And that was a potentially dangerous situation.

The Police are busy I know and there is loads of form filling but it does not take long to radio or phone around when a

26 feet Caravan goes missing being towed with an Old Transit Van Especially when you have its number plate, the Signwritting on the sides, The Make model and description of the Massive WHITE and BLUE Caravan with the BIG WORDS HOBBY & EXCELLENT EASY on the BACK, FRONT AND SIDES. Descriptions of 3 OF THE GUYS WHO TOOK IT AND THREE LARGE TRAVELLERS CAMPS 20 MINUTES AWAY FROM WHERE IT WAS TAKEN AT THE END OF THE A726 WHICH GOES PAST MY DOOR.

I did not initially have a clue where the Travelers were camped in Renfrewshire the same County AND SO I HEADED COMPLETELY IN THE WRONG DIRECTION OR I WOULD HAVE FOUND IT IN ITS FIRST PORT OF CALL.

But I can rest assured if I were to go into a Bank and Rob £20,000 + I would be expecting 5 - 10 years, The special Branch Helicopters, Dogs, CID and the national guard on my tail.

But a Caravan no that’s not a major priority, nor my safety. I should have dialled 999 when I went into the Camp. I spoke to one of the lady Police Officers who attended the camp and i said what kept you I have been here an hour and a half.

She said she had just got the call about 10 minutes ago and sped straight up to get me.

I think that they did not get the info from Glasgow quickly enough and cannot act till they know all about the case.

I could potentially have suffered some trouble but who was caring. Just as long as the forms are filled in correctly and nobody gets into trouble. As I say it was not the individual Police Officers you can criticise it’s the System which has gone mad with Red Tape, Form Filling Compliance and Race Relationship Regulations.

LOOK OUT!!

HE'S BEHIND YOU!          OH NO HE'S NOT!            OH YES HE IS!

Oddly enough, a nighbour had a brand new £20,0000 caravan stolen - and the police didn't even bother to come out.  Gave him a crime number, and that was that.

Well done for your persistance  (that should be 'very very' well done)

I am intrigued why you make a distinction with femaile police officers surely men and women in the police are all police officers?

I was also going to ask if any  of this has appeared in the local press as its usually the sort of thing they love.

Police Officers

Dont know about the Lady Police Officers term I just mentioned Lady Police Officers to paint a picture of who was there and to whom I spoke to and probaly to be polite.

I hope that's not inferring I am a sexist or anything like that. I think they are still called Mam or something like that when they address senior Female Police Officers within the force? May be wrong as I am not an expert. Perhaps someone knows better and what the ranks are actually within the Police and how you address each?

When I was a kid there were no Lady Police Officers around our district and probably beleived most were men and it was unusual to see a WPC which I think, they used to be officially called to differentiate one sex from another. I think that political correctness nowadays removed the WPC title and they are all Police Constables so I think you have a very valid point.

Sorry if I offended the female genders.

Hi.

I have read this thread with great interest but.....(please excuse my ignorance)

Is your Hobby a legal  uk version i.e permitted width? If not, did they do him for towing an illegal van? or worse you?

Just a thought.

ALL Hobbys are legal and can be legally towed in Britain with the correct vehicle.  I think we have some one nit picking looking for an argument!.
