In the first year you will always lose the VAT plus depreciation , 2nd year will just be some depreciation only in a £14000 van you would expect to get £11,500 - £12000 back in a trade in after one year

Hi We bought a new Bailey pagent provance in sept 2006 just under 13k went to trade in for a motorhome from same dealer he offered me £8700 against a mh over £20k so we stuck an ad on ebay with a reserve didnt sell also on preloved didnt sell but someone on here noticed me saying i couldnt get it sold and bought it from me at slightly less than i wanted but meant i could buy private also so bought a 1 1/2 year old motorhome for 11k less than new one same model and had under 2000 miles on it so it swings in roundabout what i lost in van i more than made up for in mh.

Our current caravan was about 6 months old, bought from a dealer for about £5,000 less than the new price.

A friend of ours lost £2.000 on hers it was less than a week old as her husband passed away a couple of days after they purchased it, she asked the dealer to take it back thinking  she wouldn't lose too much I believe you lose the most withing the first 12months & it slows down thereafter I think
