I really dont think this is a critism of the police, yes they have found the caravans & full marks to 'em for that.

As I have stated earlier, It will all be for nought if nothing is gained from finding these caravans. At the risk of repeating meself, I ask:-

Have crooks been caught?

What is happening to the caravans?

What is the position of the current residents of these caravans?

Until those questions are answered the story is only half told.

& I would say that anybody who has their caravan stolen from their home or storage place & finds police will not even check local traveller camps because the theft of his £18K caravan is not classed by the government as a 'measurable priorty'(ie regarded as no more serious than the theft of a Flymo from a garden shed) is entitled to ask why police then travel all the way to Spain in search of stolen caravans.

Well it succeeded in getting yourself into the thread in the hope we could get some real followup information on this, unfortunately instead of updating us you are making irelavent comparisons to police forces in other countries ie, we should be thankful our police dont beat us to death like police in third world countries.

If you can catergorically & truthfully tell me that your colleauges flew to Spain, grafted 13hrs a day then fell exausted into bed in a cheap hotel after grabbing a sandwich then I will withdraw my heinous 'allegation'

If their hours were somewhat shorter & their accomodation somewhat more luxurious with food & drink all found, then perhaps not. I'm sure your answer will be that as professionals your colleauges are entitled to a decent standard of living while working away from home with everything paid for but you can understand members of the public taking a cynical veiw.

I think you are missing my point tho which was what was the point of the investigation & what has it achieved, It made a good story 'Police track stolen caravans to Spain' so, what next, can you tell us?

It might be of interest to anybody who had had their caravan stolen & recieved only a crime number, not your fault of course, but the government's, 'measurable priorities' & all that(your words, not mine)

Teacake, there are some who will always try to have the last say.

Regardless of their level of intelligence they will always see themselves as either right or believe they have the right to have an opinion however ill informed or ignorant that opinion may be.

An old DS of mine called them 'barrack room lawyers' whilst another suggested that you can't educate pork because it will still grunt at you

c_or_b, you appear intent on turning this thread into a personal attack on me. If you want to do that why not start a thread in triva?

Lets stay on topic, eh? the readers this thread might decide which of us is the most stupid, at the moment you are ahead on points as you appear to believe the police are beyond reproach. We read in the papers on a daily basis that they are not.

Any member of the public is entitled to ask what is the point of this investigation if it achieves nothing except the location of stolen caravans in Spain when it is their money being spent.

"An old DS of mine called them 'barrack room lawyers' whilst another suggested that you can't educate pork because it will still grunt at you"

Ask yourself c_or_b, what does that statement suggest to anybody reading this?

To me it suggests policemen holding the public who they are supposed to serve, in total contempt.

Now why do I not find that suprising?

Marty - you're flippant comments succeded in getting me into this thread . The Police cant force anything into the press, its up to the press to decide what makes a good story.

Croyde - you are right about having the last say but I'm still wondering what knowledge Marty has about Police practices. He never did answer . He just lights the touch paper and sits back and watches.

But to be honest Marty the biggest joke is that you actually believe what is said in the papers. Say no more !!

& so it goes on, Police contempt for the public, dont ask questions, coppers know best.

& arnt you 2 just proving it, What knowledge do I have of 'police practices'? well the knowledge I have that is relavant to this thread is:-

Member of public gets caravan stolen off drive, police do not investigate(not a measurable priorty)

Stolen caravans turn up in Spain, British police jump on plane to Spain & do what? So far, apparently just identifing said 'vans for the benefit of the insurance co's(at UK taxpayers expence)the rest is up to the Spanish police & courts, its their country.

Come on Teacake, nobody knows who you are, tell us, whats happening now, what are the latest developments?

All you 2 are doing is railing against my alleged anti police stance when you could be throwing a bit of light on how this case could or might be progressing, after all it is you 2 who have 'inside knowledge' of these 'police practices'

Marty - why dont you Google "sub judice". Who are you? Why should I tell you anything? How do I know if you are involved in the crimes or not? I'm certainly not going to discuss ongoing criminal cases on forums.

This will be my last input as I think we are labouring the point, but Marty , when you said you had knowledge of how the Police operate,  I can only suggest that you were being economical with the truth. Still it was a bit of fun !!

Next?

I have been watching this thread with interest. Not being a caravana the only thing I would say is that as far as I'm concerned couldn't care less where they go after being stolen as long as the insurance pay out accordingly. I fully realise to many it is an extension to the home. It is like having the car nicked, once it has gone it could be anywhere. Not worth getting all steamed up about.
