I've just bought a new to us caravan without an awning Ours is a size 7 800cm-825 so the dealer told me

Our friends have offered us a brand new one which is a size 8 Would this be far too big for ours

Sorry for a silly question but it's first time I've ever had to think about an awning

Thanks

the size is to do with the length of the awning rail. if the awning is too big, you will find that one of the sides will be lower down than it should be. This could be just cosmetic or it could result in some of the canvas lying on the ground on one side. Awning sizes go up in 25cm increments (I think) so it will depend on the size of the caravan how bad it will be. (i.e. are you at the lower end of a size 7 or the uppper end)

Hi

Our caravan is a 975 so we thought get the 975-1000 (14) rather than the 950-975 (13), thinking a little bit extra is better than too short, and wish we had got the smaller size.

If the ground is uneven, the ends "bunch up".

I'd ask your friend to let you try it before you make a decision, or buy the smaller size 7.

HTH

Paul

Thanks for all your help

Remeasured it's 793cm so think size 7 would be best
