Sorry to bother you again - but we have just go a new to us caravan.  We have established that the battery worn out and have ordered a new one.

However, we are still haveing a problem with the fridge - it does not seem to be working on mains,  I have read the book (it's an electalux) and it does not give much advice in the troubleshooting section, what confuses me most is that the is no temprature control inside the fridge - is this hidden somewhere?

any idea anyone?  thanks in advance

regards

sue

Does the fridge work ok on gas & 12v(only while you are driving)? all you can do is check the mains current is reaching the fridge if it is, the most likely problem is that the mains heating element is no good(they dont last forever)to replace this obviously you will have remove the fridge. If you feel you can disconnect/reconnect including gas & fit the part then you can diy otherwise its a job for your local caravan service place.

Hi Marty and thanks for replying

I think we have found the problen (being blonde in my excuse).  I thought that the light at the end of the fridge should come on - well it doesn't  - but it does work - I think that is for the gas ignition.

We have looked at the book again - and it says the fridge is silent - it has now been on for around half an hour and it is getting colder - so think probably it was OK to start with.  Will go out and check in another half hour or so -don't know If I like it being silent though!

regards

sue

Caravan fridges are absorbsion fridges which makes them silent in operation & allows them to be run on gas as well. The fridge in your kitchen at home is a compressor fridge ie it has an electric pump which you can hear.
