just used my new porch awning the one with four carbon poles bent into a half moon shape floor to van top all was great untill the wind got up blowing the poles flat and the awning sides where flat down to the ground sheet knocking tables over etc. the only damage was the steel surport pole across the roof bent, are these awnings ment only to be fair weather covers?
hI i've got a starcamp 390 which i think is the same type of awning ,4 carbon poles and 2 alloy roof supports .I've used it for a couple of years with no problems but always check the pegs regularly especially if the ground is a bit soft or wet.Hope this helps no doubt others willgive you more advice .
We have the suncamp ultima and it's stood up to extemely high winds. does the porta porch have guy ropes where the carbon poles are? The sunncamp does and they hold it im place.
We have the Royal 260 which is almost identical the Ultima.
It has not really been tested in a high wind but as leanne 73 says it should have plenty of guys to keep it in shape.
We like ours as it is just the right size for the two of us, it looks good, and I find it easy to put up.
We would be upset if it is not durable.
------------- I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left - Seasick Steve 2008
it does have guy ropes on each pole no damage has been done to the carbon poles or the tent ,just to let any one no not to leave a candle or fire by the tent side as i was surprised to see how much the tent bent right down in the wind knocking the tables over . as you say its just the right size for two and easy to put up it wonnt stop us using it now we no with care
We had one similar, we used it in winter winds, and it had 8 inches of snow on it at easter, we put extra guyropes on it if it was windy, and to stop the horizontal poles banging on the caravan side in windy weather we used rubber stoppers off an old dog guard to protect the sides.
