Hi everyone, hubby and I have now taken the plunge (after seeing lots of horrible caravans) and bought a fantastic and immaculate caravan. It's a Swift Rapide 440 GXL (1994) and it is in perfect condition. We paid £1,100 for it and are collecting it next weekend to put it into storage over the winter months. It has a brand new awning, cassette toilet and the bunk beds haven't even been used. It is been in the same family since new and is owned by a couple who have only used it occasionally.
Congrats on the new van..but how on earth are you gonna settle knowin you have a new van and arent gonna use it til winter is out the way?..theres no way i could do that...i would be itchin to get out there in it...
Is there any peticular reason why you arent usin it through the winter?
We use ours all the time..it was great wakin up Easter sunday and seein snow outside..we were so snuggly and warm :-)
Thanks all for your kind words. We would dearly love to use the van over the winter but sadly, have nowhere to keep it. We have a seasonal pitch organised for next year and it can't come around quick enough. If we had somewhere to keep it at home we would be away every weekend ...... x
Please can someone tell me how you can prove you own the caravan? Do we need to register it with someone? Have organised the insurance which was simple enough but was just wondering how we could prove ownership if we were asked to.
Sorry if this sounds a crazy question, but we are complete novices.
There is an organaisation called CRIS.The dealer ship will send the new owner doc to CRIS and then CRIS will contact you. It costs £12 to register the van in your name once you pay you then get the reg docs from CRIS and you are on the doc as the owner
Hope this helps

provided your van is 1991 or newer, most vans before that arn`t registered with CRIS, so no need to register, just buy it, get proof of ownership (a receipt) and thats it
