Definitely duvet for the bed - in fact we have a full set of bedding in our van, complete with electric blanket!

On the subject of portable tvs, forgive me if I'm wrong (I'm not technically minded) but I would have thought that reception would only be as good as the aerial you use and the area you are in, regardless of what make of tv you get. We have a cheap Asda tv/dvd combo which we got about 4years ago, and a proper aerial clamped to the towbar, and apart from one particular area in Norfolk where we lose Channel 5 the reception is perfect every time.

Prefer Duvets, as for the tv, we purchased a cheap asda tv a couple of years ago, £44 we just have it connected to a cheap freeview box and only use our status roof top aerial, so far we seem to be getting as good a picture as people who have aerials on 12 foot poles.

Proper bedding. We use one of those vac pac bags and put the duvet and pillows in it vac it and leave it in the van. That way it doesn't get damp (god forbid we get damp in the van) and keeps them clean. The sheets towles, Etc go home to get washed.

We have a 21 inch tv with built in freeview and DVD player. (£199 from Makro) We have a sat dish (as good as a chocolate fire guard  ) to use where theres a signal 500 channels of rubbish. Other than that we use the vans aeriel. Again these get left in the van.

It takes time to build up equipment. At the beginning we lugged every thing back and forth from the house to the van.

I started with towels etc. When in Asda doing the weekly shop I would pick up a towel, next week utensils, next week a duvet, next week a frying pan, Etc Etc. We didn't notice the cost and eventually the van has got all its own stuff. I deliberately choose different colours for the van as to what we have at home so towels, bedding Etc are washed and put away in a pop up laundry bag ready for the next trip. Saves you having to think Have I got everything. Then the pop up laundry bag is used to put the dirty things in for the homeward trip.

Hope this (long) story helps

Hi Everyone, just noticed that someone uses those storage bag which you need to expel the air out of with a vacuum cleaner.  Can you tell me where to buy some of these that actually work??  Ive got about 5 here and not one of them works.

We bought our vacuum bags from Argos and we use them for the bedding recliner cushions and any other soft fabrics that need storing. For some reason we then bought it all home with us this time but we intend to keep it all in the van. Must say that I am really impressed with the bags which have only been sealed since the start of October but they are all stillvery compact so I assume they are air tight.

Hi Val I use the JML ones and got them from Asda. They were expensive. I've bought ones from Argos bit cheaper but they were rubbish.I've found with this product you get what you pay for.

Here's what I can put in 1 large one.

2 x single duvets, 2 x pillow, 2 x duvet sets, 2 x sheets and 2 x extra extra large towelling bath sheet (I use them under the normal sheets). Being carful when packing No rings or long nails Etc but certainly not difficult. You will get all of this in easily
