Does your caravan have a mover fitted? If it does get about 6 scaffold boards, put 1 infront of each wheel (inc., jockey wheel) and move the van forward onto them; then put the other 3 in front of the first ones, move the caravan forward until it is onto the 2nd set of boards, then take the 1st set from behind and move them to the front. Keep doing this until you have cleared the waterlogged area; the only problem with this is that it is a very slow process.

Hopefully someone will come up with an easier solution, but it is the only one I could think of.

Have a scavange about and find old bread baskets that are discarded or approach local baker for damaged ones, cut off the sides leaving the mesh bottom, you could cut them down the middle to give 2 for 1 but narrows your error, loose cable tie them end to end then apply same theory as Alan.s above,

Much lighter and they can be folded up for storage.

I think this may be the answer.

Might be a less expensive than a mover option if you don't have one but have you thought of looking into putting the van into storage? They are generally easier to get in and out and would. Some storage might do 6 months worth just over the winter?

Alternatively try getting a winter seasonal pitch maybe?

on the keswick site they use sheets of plywood on soft ground,about half inch thick.easy to store as well. this looks good will it take the weight?

If you wanted to be dramatic and cause a stir in the neighbourhood you could hire a big crane and swing it up and over your house.  Cost you a bit but worth seeing the neighbours faces.!

Hi,

To lift a caravan (say 1.5 tonnes) over a house you would need at leat a 35 tonne capacity crane.

If you were an "Appointed Person" and could plan and take control of the lift the crane hire, less insurance would set you back about £450 a day, maybe £1000 if you wanted the crane hire company take control.

Then of course there would be the hire of a lifting frame as a van would certainly be damaged, and possibly be crushed when picked up by the Alko chassis.

So, possibly not a viable option, good for kidney machines but not caravans.

Not really a serious posting, although I have seen a canal barge lifted off a lorry and lowered into a canal.   As you state, expensive - cheaper to buy a new van perhaps

Actually lifting things over houses is a pretty regular occurrance down here.

We live in an area where there are several Navy Bases and foreign workers regularily stay here for a couple of years before moving on.

They rent large houses and their belongings arrive in a container. The container is craned off the lorry and swung over the house and into their garden where it is unloaded of all their belongings. The container stays there and becomes a garage for the duration of their stay before being reloaded when it is time ofor them to move to their next assignment elsewhere.

Being in an area that also has many yacht yards, hiring a mobile crane is not a problem.

Hey yes - and if you could get someone else to do the same, you could play caravan conkers - like on Top Gear!!
