Our previous van (a single) was 6.78m (very similar to yours there) , it did not seem particularly long.

However, the new one (a twin) is 7.95m, now that DOES feel long!

Just over 12.5m when hitched.

 wonder how may many people are towing illegally due to the weight of their towcars being under 3500? How long is an average coupling/drawbar?

I doubt if many of us normal recreational caravanners are towing vans illegally over length. Presently a significant % are getting close.
Without going out of you way to acquire a continental van that's also over the permitted UK width those marketed here through normal outlets are UK legal.
[If the question had been about over-weight, then what a different answer]

Our coupling towbar at 1.54m is exceptionally long by UK standards; a feature I feel helps to impart inherent stability.

As JTQU said, anyone towing a UK made van will be legal in length and width.  Weight is a different matter.  There was a report in the CC mag recently about some checks done on caravans, and a high percentage of those checked were overweight.

My van is 7.35  ( 23' 11'' )  overall with a body length of  6.13 ( 19' 11'' ) and a width of 2.3 ( 7'6'' ) and the height is 2.66 ( 8' 7'' ) all on a single axle at 1700kg max.

Plenty room for our fixed double bed and very comfy it is too!

Our van is 24'1" in length (according to Coachmans measurements)on a single axle. Towed with a Saab 9-3 estate, it seems very long.

As far as weight we are ok, that's one thing OH very keen on!!

my vans just right dont realy bare about sixe lenghth width.

if oh wants a bigger one tuff lol!!!! but it will be very long on back of the ranger but hey ho not as long as the 40 foot atrics on my license

i recon any van look really long in your rear view mirror nomatter what car you tow with. I have have several people ask if our car tows the windward 540 (sterling europa basically) and the answer is always yes it tows it just fine. The car looks really short for the size of van but it is heavy compared to the van so looks do not matter too much. As long as you tow at 85% or less and do not speed or rush you should be fine - just remember there is a big trailer behind you!
