Hi there just wondering what peoples views are on caravan covers i have just sold my elddis avante 475 and i have now bought a swift charisma 540.I had a cover for my firestorm but i found it a lot of hasle,i found it scratched the windows and scuffed the edges of the caravan,my new caravan will be stored on my drive,so with regular cleaning is it necessary to get another cover ,any advice would be appreciated.

i guess it depends on the quality of what you buy,we have a breathable one, for our van but to be honest we have hardly used it, its ok ish to get on the van if we use 2 washing line props and lay it along the van, front to back, and then both of us lift it over. and altho if a windy day it comes off easy, its a bugger to wrap up and get back in its bag on your own. im sure a parachute is smaller than that thing!!!

we havent had any trouble with it scratching the wndows or anything like that.

I have just ordered a new van and was also considering a cover.
The salesman pointed out the problems with putting it on the van, scratching, particularly the windows, and the cost of a good one being over £300!
I have decided that a good covering of something like "overwintering" will have to do the job.

I have used Associated Accessories caravan covers for several years and they have have never marked one of or 'vans. The present caravan has black windows and they are still 100% unmarked.  Although it is a large caravan we have no problem putting it on, or taking it off, we just use a couple of sweeping brushes and we walk up either side of the van from back to front, lifting it as we go.

The only problem we have is when we take ot off and have to fold it up to put it back in its storeage bag, but there and then, that is no different to a large awning.

http://www.carcoversuk.com/accessories_caravan.htm

Ours is from Specialised Accessories and came with the van.  We put it on every October and remove it in mid March when the site re-opens and it gives me peace of mind as it is an old van.  Yes it is a handful to put on and take off but you only do it once a year!

seeing as we use our van all year round, we bought ours due to the steel dust that b lows over the storage site, but as i said before it was so much bother getting the damm thing in the bag again when i was on my own, so now its sat in the greenhouse, so if anyone wants one for a 5m van give me a shout. its only been used for 3 weeks and put on the van once and took off again

Hi, we have a specialized cover for our Pageant Provence, and have no trouble putting on or taking off. however getting it in the bag, well thats another story, I am sure one day it will go back in, but as we use the van frequently we just put it in the shed sort of folded. We like FM02 have no problems with scratching of the windows.

Happy Christmes and happy new year to you all.
