Old does not necessarily mean decrepit. If a van has been carefully maintained, its value is not significant to its age. Even if the bodywork looks faded and the upholstery slightly thread bare, a sound chassis and shell, with faultless running gear, can still be worth several hundred pounds.
With the chasis and shell intact, restoring, and perhaps some updating, will be a labour of love. The rewards come in the form of enjoying the restored van. It is doubtful that you could expect an eventual profit from doing up an older van in this way. And it would hardly be fair for a potential purchaser to expect the seller to virtually give away a sound and well maintained unit just to make the van a better bargain.
