I have the Vin number should I call Bailey and ask them? If it is can I reject it at point of sale?

Seems a bit late to ask the questions. Surely you were pleased to do the deal.  As long as you were not mislead, looks like you got what you wanted, and saved yourself some lolly.

We paid £15500 for our van{list price £17990}That was May last year.We were suspicius about how good a deal it was,but Discover are a big group and I suppose thats why they can do such good deals.Would I buy from them again? No. You have to expect a few teething problems with any new british built van,but if the dealer can't deal with it properly and sort things out then they have failed. This is my personal opinion anyway,as I suppose there are plenty of happy Discover customers out there. We asked for a factory fresh van and I believe that's what we got,but how do you know? One tip for you when you collect your van, make sure the pre-delivery inspection has been done fully before you take it away.

Chances are that the suppliers are bringing out their new range hence if you want the latest on the forecourt then you need to clear the old first, somehow I doubt they get the caravans on a sale or return basis.

I would not worry about the warranty it starts the day you collect it.We have a september 2008 bailey loire series 6,we bought it when it was 13 weeks old from the first owner who bought the wrong van for them.A very "exspensive" mistake for them he couldnt go backwards with it!,They originaly bought it from penrose touring but they would not buy it back because they were over stocked.so we bought it direct from them the first owner for £9850 they had blown over £5000 in 13 weeks and used it once..But i checked bailey and the warranty was changed with a small admin fee to us as long as we have it serviced at our local bailey agent in kent before sept 09 when its a year old.But it will be gone by then before i lose the chance to have a years touring without losing hardly any money because the first owner done that for us! i sell it and get a series 7.So in short dont worry about your warranty and anyway its a bailey your never have to a claim ha ha By the never by an exspensive nearly new van off private sellers without checking its not on finance.

Basically in January the deals begin (I have discussed this on other posts). It's like the car industry - once the new reg comes, the old reg loses value. It's an 08, therefore not this year's model so the price should reflect. being ex-demo isnt always a problem - but it does depend on when they took delivery. If they took delivery say October, then in the winter sales are slow, hence not a lot of folk walking around the van!!

All I would recommend is that you go round it with a fine tooth comb. Look for things like taps, bulbs, screw fittings missing. Some punters grab them for spares for their van..!!!

Nearly all new vans have the plastic coverning the floor (which is a PAIN!!! to remove as i found out when I took the plunge on a new one).

The 'demo' status is quite simple. They buy a van as display, people walk around it. People then order a new one and the dealer orders one form the factory. If this one is one site, and that is the one you are buying, then it's a demo. Nothing to worry about as long as you do the checks.

Anyone reading who fancies a new van - THIS IS BARGAIN TIME - grab an 08 and enjoy a glass of wine on site whilst you watch '09 owners lose depreciation faster than it takes to fry a burger (and yes, I did the same last year but i had my reasons)...

The dealers have to shift them as they are over stock - they can only have so many units on site, and the 09's will need some room. It depends on the dealers and how good a year they had.

To answer Paul & Wendy, the display models are bought by the dealer (at a good price) and can't go back.

Grab it.. just have a good look, you will get full warranty and you can get reviews which are accurate as they are estsblished models.

A dealer mate told me that this year the manufacturers are scrimping on quality parts to get the price down but still kick out a 'new' model so it may well be the smart money goes on 08's.
Last year very few did...

Hi all- we can actually tell you-as we went- that Discover (Chorley) had a massive auction on Sat 17th Jan. We went along and my god were there some bargains to be had.  YOu logged your details with them, you got a lot number and a list of all what was going through the auction, on the paperwork was lot no, make, model, spec, whre it was at, whether it was used or new, warrantied or unwarrantied(sold as seen).  There was hundreds of people there.  They went through motorhomes, caravans, folding campers, trailer tents, awnings and even some tents.  Yes they were stock clearing, it went very well.  The auctioning was being done by BCA Auctions.  Hope they do another one next year.

One example of what they sold that I was interested in was a Dorema HIlton porch awning, fibre poles rrp store £355.......auctioned for £150 and an ISabella Capri 1025cm, fibre poles rrp £1659 it sold for £400 and these are actual prices as I wrote all lots down as they went through the brochure.  Check it out, you should find no wrong.  Good luck Gary

I think there are many bargains to be had at the moment.  Discover are a reputable company and would have thought they would be honest and up-front in their dealings.  If the van had not already been registered by a previous owned then the Bailey warranty begins from the day of purchase.  If the retailer cannot supply the warranty it could be because it has been pre-owned).  Bailey caravans will transfer a warranty for a nominal fee - but I think only Bailey can do this if you contact them direct (not the dealer).  We have been pleased with our dealings with this company, but it probably varies from branch to branch.  We got our van from an ex-Barrons branch.

Best wishes

we bought our van S/H from discover orpington we had a problem with leaking front windows 8 months or so later
they thouroughly damp checked the van, traced the fault to the sealant above the windows repaired the sealant renewed the window seals replaced the wallboarding & exstended their warranty for a further year. VERY happy with their service

They wouldnt dare sell a pre-owned as display. They would be seriously breaking the law.
