Surely its just wanten vandalism. What other use could a toilet casette be put tp to make it worthwhile nicking? Like you say D S B, most folk won't go near it with a barge pole!!!

Yeah, the lock thing always seamed a bit over the top. However it wouldn't be much fun if you discovered it had been nicked just after you had used it!!
I was once on a C&CC rally where some 'nice' person emptied their toilet into someone else's, leaving the victim's toilet full to the top of the bowl - yuck. The victim's toilet was in a toilet-tent. Maybe having the cassette locked in prevents/deters this sort of lunacy?
And of course, when your 'van is in storage or unattended on your drive, we all know they are vulnerable to the section of 'society' that will nick anything that's not nailed down - having the cassette door locked helps to prevent that sort of theft.
Just had a look on e-b*y and sure enough there are replacement casettes for sale. All brand new and by reputable sellers by the look of it. In the region of £80 quid, quite what the reason is that you would want a new one is up for debate, maybe nicked or damaged beyond repair, who knows. It just surprises me what some folk will pinch.
