I would guess cracking in plastic panels would be caused by lack of ridigity in the whole structure causing the body to flex excessively, that might explain damp problems as well. Maybe the designer was attempting to make the structure as light as possible to allow a high spec of interior fittings & keep the overall weight down. I would certainly ensure corner steadies were wound down quite gently & not used to level the caravan even slightly.
Cue Returnee & German caravans.
