Can anyone offer some advice please.

In the spring we are looking to fit a basic shower unit in our caravan loo area. The shower unit itself will be a simple 12V shower connected to the battery via crocodile clips and the water pipe fed to an external water container (filled with pre-heated water).
Our main concerns are the walls, floor and drainage and we were hoping for some advice on the best ways to go regarding trays, waterproofing etc.

Any thought's appreciated.

I'm not sure how it would work in a caravan, but my parents used to rig up a shower in a toilet tent using a 12V submersible pump (similar set-up as you describe), a small inflatable paddling pool as the shower tray and a plastic shower curtain hung inside the tent to protect the canvas.  Maybe this set-up could be adapted to your requirements?  (BTW - to empty the paddling pool after showering, they used to drop the pump into the pool and transfer the water to a bucket for disposal).

You could put that plastic on the walls and a shower tray in it I suppose. they sel it in sheets on ebay quite cheap and would be very waterproof.

Thanks for that Scampi!
We have been using a very similar tent set-up to your parents for the past couple of years, albeit without the paddling pool lol, but this is not always ideal especially on busy campsites, so have decided this year to convert the loo.

I think the shower tray will prove to be the hardest part to source as it seems the Sprite Musketeer XL models did not have a shower fitted.

Yes i think that's the way to go, i can't see a problem covering the walls in waterproof/plastic coated paper, but the shower tray is proving difficult to find.

The stuff I meant wasnt paper but actual plastic sheets. Will any shower tray (as long as its the right size to fit) not do?? As long as its flush to the walls and well sealed you should be able to make it fit.

You may be able to get a shower tray which you can adapt, from caravan breakers - or there was a previous posting  which I think blondieandi contributed to, which mentioned shower trays made to measure - perhaps you could try there.  You could line the walls with plastic sheeting, and silicone seal all the joints.

Why not go the whole hog, though, and fit a water heater - and then it'll be a proper job, and you won't have to lug water containers full of heated water around?

Many thanks for the replies and the link Val!

Fingers crossed the caravan panel shop will be able to sort me out a shower tray that fits.

Cheers.

We've had 2 Sprites. The '89 Major had hot water (gas only) but no shower. The '91 Musketeer didn't have hot water, but the bathroom floor was a shower tray. The bathrooms were, I'm sure, both the same size, so the shower tray from the Musketeer would have fitted the Major.

I would try to source one from a caravan breaker.
