Just bought a Sunncamp Ultima 260 porch awning. Tried it on the van (Sterling Eccles Amethyst 2002) and looks too short, doesn't look a perfect fit, although supposed to fit a van of 234cms-250cms. Our van measures 242cms high. Anyone else had this problem. Also there are no eyelet holes along the skirt at the base to stop it from blowing up when windy. Thanks.

Thats what they do!

Off-load it quick like I did with my 390 and put it down to experience.

I replaced it with a Harrison porch, brand new (boxes unopened) in Burgundy for £100.00, which is such a bargain and the quality so superior I was happy to take a £70.00 hit on the Sunncamp.

you will never get it to have a perfect fit, used our 390 4 times and gave up, always gaps at the sides and also leaked.

Thanks for the replies. Really annoying, the guy in the caravan shop checked that it would fit our van. Will try the clingons Jusy, haven't heard of them before thanks for that! Been looking at the Outdoor Revolution Compactalite 250 says caravan height up to 250cms but could end up with the same problem.

We also looked at the suncamp ultima 260 and noticed no eyelets and thought this might be a problem. Ended up buying the compactalite 250 which fits fine on our van that measured 240. Only used once so far but also had gaps in the side, but think we will sort on next trip out.

From one buckley mug to another, if you want to try ours against your van, give us a shout.

Scarletsfan - I`m sure we pitched behind you at Pembrey in September 2007, I remember it well as I`ve never before (or since!) seen a Ultima 390 fit as well as yours.

I was amazed then, and still am!

We have the 260 for about 4 yrs - the only problem I had was on a sloping pitch.

We have a 260 (might have to get a new one this year - we've used it so much we've just about worn it out!) and it fits fine (except on very uneven pitches).  We love it as it's big enough to use for coats, boots, etc for weekends, there's room in it for the table and a couple of chairs, Hubby can cook breakfast in it if necessary, and I can put it up single-handed!!!

To get them flush with the van you need to pull it and peg under the van as far as possible. My mother and sister have the similar Royal awnings and they always look ok.

I have the 390 one from towsure. The first time i put it up. it was a pain in the rear. It would not fit properly. The 2nd & 3rd time i started getting it spot on. I can now put it up in 15mins all by my self. You need to make sure the caravan is level with the ground. (eg) if the ground as a slight fall on it make sure the caravan as a slight fall as well.

This is how i fit it.Make sure its all zipped up. Feed it into the awning rail. then were the skirts goes down the side of the van. Peg these ends down first with the pegs pulling it slightly under the van so the skirt is tight to the van. Then put one of the end poles in fully. square that end up with the van & peg it down so there is a slight tension on the side panel. peg down guide rope to hold that pole up. Now fit other end pole in & do the same with this one but make sure the front panel at the bottom gets some slight tension as well. Peg down guide rope to hold this pole up. Now insert the middle pole & make sure its inline with the outer poles & peg it down. Next step put the two roof pole in & tension them up. Then tension guide ropes up. last job peg it all down. This is for the 260 its the same for a 390 just one extra pole to fit. bear with it buckley mug you will get there.

If that don't work take a spade with you. dig 2 holes in the ground & drive the caravan wheels into them. that should get the awning skirts on the ground.

I have a ground sheet that is bigger then the awning. I fold this over at the ends so it rests on the awning skirts holding them down to stop the wind from getting under them.

Good luck
