Good Afteroon All,

Got a question for you very helpful people!

We have a Bailey Ranger 460-4 S6 and we are going to get a porch awning for it.  We have a problem though, how do we get electric into the awning?  The only plug in the caravan in bu the cooker which is the other side of the caravan.  Is there an connection thing that goes from the battery unit that will allow us to have electric in the awning?

To do the job properly you should fit an external socket and wire into your consumer unit (but you also need to cut  a hole in your caravan ) if you are not confident then pay for it to be done and then you know its done correctly..You could run off your battery but you would only get 12v from it.

Our van has a 230 socket by the door... if needed we run from that.

If the power does not go through the van splitter the appliances in the awning may be damaged by too many amps which the caravan splits to different circuits.Could also cause overheating and a possible fire.

Fit an outside socket in the front locker or a correct one in the side of the van.

we use an extension reel with a few plugs on it..be sure to completely unwind it or it will result in an induction coil and it gets very hot :(  

I would be rather lost without my electric in the awning for my fan heater,mini oven and slow cooker :(

this is the one saxo1means. it has shrouded sockets, not sticking out live pins
