I have put my caravan on a seasonal pitch and my fitted aerial doesn't pick up a good signal.  I have a outside aerial from my old caravan and i am going to get a mast and use it instead.  What i want advice on is i am going to connect the outside aerial to the booster in the caravan cupboard by feeding the wire through a hole in the floor at the bottom of the cupboard, rather than feed through the window.  Does any one know if you can get a grommet or some kind of fixing to stop damp or insects etc getting through, or will a bit sealant do the trick, or if anyone has any other ideas they will be welcome.

Thanks Stephen

you will finf the floor to thick to put a grommet in to on a modern van sealant should be ok ,is there a floor vent that you could feed the cable through instead of drilling a hole.

Using a vent did cross my mind, but will have to have a look first, not sure if there is one

Thanks

Don't worry, if you look lots of vans have pipes going through holes in the floor, and there are also vents too. Damp won't get in, I did what you did by fitting a socket like...

http://www.waudbys.co.uk/products/details/57.html

I used a bit of silicon seal around the edges, although again it seals itself.. then i used to just plug in my external aerial. Later on I removed the underside aerial socket and I fitted a dual socket for aerial and satellite disch cable, just two holes in the wall and the one i used (similar to the one shown in the previous post) had a rubber seal. Don't be afraid to try, providing your van is not in warranty as some dealers don't like you drilling holes.

I also fitted an external power outlet under the van too.. very easy and out of site. Get's a bit muddy but they are outdoor sockets anyway so are closed off.
