I've got to buy a caravan cover but I'm not sure if it's OK to go for the cheap ones £100 ish or should I go for the made to measure £300 one. Are the cheap ones as good as the expensive ones? Which is a good make to get?

were going to fit it once we have cleaned the van down read some good reports about them.or you could have one made to measure to fit your van i could not pay that much right now will see how the towsure one goes.any is better then none make sure its breathable.

Get the cheap one. They are just as good and if it gets ripped (which it will!) then it won't cost much to replace it. We also got ours from towsure. If you buy one bigger than the van then you can stretch it over the 'A' frame aswell. Keeps everything clean. The tailor made ones are also very heavy.

2Kias has a good point. I bet the expensive ones last a lot longer, but surely after a few winters a cover is going to be absolutely filthy, and need either cleaning itself or replacing. How would one go about cleaning something like a caravan cover? It would be more practical to have a cover that biodegraded and could simply be replaced, reasonably cheaply, after a couple of years.

The cheaper ones are fine. Probably will last 4-5 years. My brother bought an expensive one a couple of years ago, It was a better fit but also ripped the first season he used it.

Take care when buying one as they can be a bit tight on size. I had to get one 1size up to get it to fit.

We got a 23' one about 2 years from a small company based in Dawlish (Devon)

Absolute bargain for just under £60 - breathable & lined.  The business owner made a point of telling me that they were too wide for most UK vans, but as we wanted it for a German van it fitted almost like a glove.

As he was clearing them out I don't know if it was a cheap one, or a good quality one that was going cheap (if you know what I mean) but it's lasted well and I just wish I'd bought two of them while they were up for grabs.

Personally, I'd go for a cheap option in your case - the expensive ones might be twice as good, but cost four or five times the price (and more), and probably wouldn't last four times as long.

We secure ours with bungee straps under the chassis, which allows some 'give' when the gales hit them.

I got an expensive Pro-Tec one for a big caravan ... good quality and should last for years! ... did cost £325 though ... and that was a special offer !

A tip - to avoid a puddle on the roof which will form between rooflights and aerials etc ... buy a large cheap plastic bucket and stick it upside down where the puddle is going to form thus making a big bump to make the water run off. The Pro-Tec cover, apart from fitting perfectly, has some extra material sewn in to allow for stuff on the roof.

I had a cheap one and it was heavy, leaked and looked like a big sack over my van. RUBBISH!! I now have a taIlor made one, much better, light weight and fits perfect. Its worth paying the extra, believe me.

Just found a right bargain on ebay, it must be an error but 19-23 ft cover £7.50 plus £4.95 postage on buy it now, so I have, for £12.45 you can't go wrong!

I'll probably get an email in a minute saying it's got the wrong price on it!
