Latest update.

We have finally decided against the Elddis and are now looking at getting a new Sterling Europa 520.  A much nicer van and not really that much more expensive.

We are hoping to pick one up this month before next months price increase.

Good decision, we are very happy with our Sterling Mooney, we much prefer the amount of light inside as it always seemed gloomy in winter in the Elddis with the black windows.

Incidentally our Elddis toilet flush leaked if over filled, or too enthusiastically filled. We also had to drain all spare pink out of the flush tank before moving to next site when touring as it slopped over somehow. I've had to wash it out of the carpet twice before we realised what was happening. It never did that on our old Abbey, and now I'm wondering if it would be ok to leave it in our new Mooney with the new style toilet? Anyone know if it slops if you leave the pink in?

We usually travel with some water in our flush tank but have not had any leaks.

I've always left with both tanks ready to 'go' (haha just realised the pun!) Just empty it all out over frosty winters.

We have a Odyssey 525 and it is brilliant. Have had it now for 6 months and we live in ours. Have had no problems at all.

Sean P, Thanks for the advice.  The water damage is a little bit of a weird one.  The caravan has hardly been used and the underneath of the van supports this - it looks really clean and is dry as a bone. I checked the underneath with a damp meter, and underneath the damp area was dry.  I don't think the actual toliet has caused the problem but it could be as corrakid suggested that the cassette door has been leaking in.  This is the most likely scenario.

One of the big concerns was that somebody has cut the lino a little. You wouldn't notice this without a really good look. It has been cut by somebody at home and not a specialist. The floor around the area is a still little wet (but it is at the main door and it was raining when we went to see it)

The repair is not going to be carried out by the dealer himself but by an independant person and I will get a 1 year warranty on it not coming back.

I don't think we are taking too big a risk as we love the rest of the van and haven't seen another we like or agree on nearly as much. And that counts brand new ones which we have considered. This one is a 2006 model.

Any more ideas or thoughts still gratefully received.  We can still pull out of the deal if the repir isn't done to our liking.

It sounds like you are really set on this caravan, so I would go ahead

subject to the repairs being done properly.  Also, would the dealer

agree to an additional 3 years warranty on the damp problem, as most

caravans come with a 6 year damp warranty as standard, our Bailey

Indiana which is now 3 years has a 6 year damp warranty from the

manufacturer as standard, and it can be passed on when selling.
