Hi you it sounds like you need a whale pump that sit in side the water container an plugs in to the blue connector on you caravan.yes you electric will still work if the caravan is damp, milton it is ok . but you realy need to got the damp sorted out or you will end up having to scrap it.you can buy a litgtle dehumifiers that will help keep the damp down. As for runing the caravan eletrics from you house, you get your hook up leed and a andaptor with a 13 amp plug on it . As for the damp you need to get all the joints resealed and then the dehumidifier to dry out the wooden frame. You need to get it done asap before the sides start to clasp. If you need any more advice please feel free to e-mail me on darren.keenan at hotmail.co.uk and I will do my best to advise you.

If there are wires hanging loose be careful before connecting a battery.

They are probably for a 12v light, not difficult to fit one. If you are not sure, tape up the ends of the wires separately with insulation tape so no bare conductors are showing, and they cannot touch each other!

12v may not sound much but it can easily start a fire.

Make sure everything is switched off before connecting the battery, or the mains lead. If the van has mains electrics!

If it has there should be a socket on the outside, it may be in the battery box. The leads have blue outdoor connectors. There should be a fusebox , possibly with a  circuit breaker underneath one of the beds. The circuit breaker if fitted can be tested.

I would strongly advise you to get someone who is competent with electrics to check it, if you are not sure.It can kill you.

Yes I may sound  pedantic, but I teach electrical engineering so know a bit about it!(ex RAF aircraft tech.)

To Milton the system is easy. You need a water container which you fill and add the milton tablets. The pump is put in this and connected to the water inlet.

With a battery fitted, switch on master and pump switches. Opening taps should bring on the pump and pull water through after the air has cleared, it may take a while and splutter a bit!

Do this for all the taps then close them , leave for a while for the stuff to work.then flush through with lots of clean water.

Its a good idea to put some bleach down the drains too if they smell, if not the milton will help.

You need a length of waste pipe to connect the waste outlets to the waste master. It is grey plastic tube about 1" diameter. Caravan dealers sell it. Some vans have more than one outlet (mine has 2 side by side).

As Darren above said , you need to sort out the damp. There is lots of good info on here !

Enjoy your van.
