I have just been given a new 25mtr EHU lead with my new Elddis scirroco and thought I would use it in place of my existing lead. However the existng 25mtr EHU lead which I bought from a leading caravan dealer accesory shop about 2 years ago for my Pageant, is actually considerably thicker. I decided to check my other 25mtr EHU (extension lead) and that is also thicker than the new lead, but not as thick as the 25 mtr EHU lead I bought for the Pageant.

So essentially all three EHU leads all from major caravan dealers / manufacturers are all orange, all with the same correct fittings but all different thicknesses?

We always use sites with EHU and use it to run all appliances, ie. heating, fridge, lights tv etc.

Has anyone else noticed different thickness leads, presumably they all handle the maximum requirements of sites EHU running maximum appliances?

I would think they would have to be able to deal with the maximum load of 16amps otherwise they would surely be considered unsafe and I can't imagine caravan manufacturers putting their customers in that position. One positive of a less thick cable is that it will be easier to wind up!

I made up my own leads using blue arctic cable as I find the orange stuff is too stiff to roll up in cold weather.

The guys at the Factors said 16 amp would be ok for the 10 metre one but a heavier rating would be better for the 25 metre one to avoid voltage drop. I can't remember now what amperage it is, but it is quite a bit thicker.

I expect that the ones you have are different amperages, but will all be at least 16 amp.
