Hi all
Our saga continues with our Avondale. Still waiting for a refund from Auto Protect for our original extended warranty taken out when the van was bought new but with Avondale going bust we took out a new extended warranty in January through Glossop caravans specially for their Avondale customers. The original Auto Protect warranty hadn`t started yet so we were assured from Auto Protect of a full refund minus a small admin charge (ie £250 minus `a small admin charge???`) Another little niggle raised its head at the weekend when taking our van for its third service after assuming any NCC recognised workshop could carry out warranty work (we need new window seals) guess what our local dealer doesn`t `work?` with Auto Protect mmmmmm!. I`d never heard of Auto Protect until buying our new van and I suppose have no knowledge of anything bad about them I just wondered if other folk have dealt with them and how they found the experience?
Cheers
Steve
I was with them once, would not touch them with a barge pole Got rid of my van but because I was paying monthly I had to carry on paying till the agreement was up.They used every trick in the book to avoid paying out.
Michael - Yes thats the firm but its a caravan policy and is a special policy created for Glossops Avondale owners.
Ron - Wish we had posted on here first. Funny how you seem to here these things only after you`ve signed up with em. They do seem reluctant to refund the first policy we took out even though we`ve now taken out the new special one with them. Phone calls always seem to be when the relevant person is on holiday/sick/lunch/meeting etc etc promised return calls from Glossops? no chance!!

I posted a item in Oct 2006 about them.I find it does pay to use the search facilty on the site one way or another it can save you time and money.Like you I found out the hard way about this company.
I have just had a new rear panel fitted to my Avondale by Glossop Caravans using my Auto Protect Cover. Everything went absolutely perfect. Glossop Service Centre could not have been more helpful and Auto Protect were on the ball. I could not fault anything. From delivering the caravan to collecting it took 7 working days including waiting for the assessor, that's quicker than my local dealer quotes for an annual service!
So to all you "Glossop Knockers" out there, I give Glossop Caravans a big "Thumbs up!" and "Thank you" to Mike and Craig.
well ive had 3 customers , all had the autodirect waranty added when they got van from glossops , 2 of which were damp , and the other was waterheater related. the two damp problems appered within 2 month of purchace , damp was not covered by the waranty . , and the water heater was not covered due to so called frost damage. but that was odd as the van was bought in june
i also know of several folks that have had damp repairs and in less than a few months the damp is back , the inside has been reboarded but there was failures in stoping water gettitng in .
if i was you i would buy a good damp tester and keep a close eye on where they have resealed the back pannel it make sure it is sealed correctly including the roof join , i give it six to 8 months and you will back ,
Auto protect booklet specifies in their exclusion paragraph, ".....Body leaks through any permanently sealed seam...." Also on page 3 it specifies "......Excluding water ingress and delamination....". So I'm not surprised that they wouldn't cover it!
My policy was for years 3 & 4 on a new caravan, after the original manufacturer's warranty has finished.
My rear panel doesn't go over the roof, it finishes just above the rear window, and all the seams look well sealed to me and it's covered with a Protec cover during the Winter months, (that'll get the "Anti-cover brigade" going now!)
Hi all
Well Here we are nearly five months on and Glossops have apparantly had the go ahead from Auto protect to reimburse us our first warranty this was three weeks ago and promise of a cheque in the post, well no cheque arrived and I was "At the top of the list". Furthur calls made and guess what they have a new system for refunds which can take a few days to input and can I give it a bit longer forget the cheque it will go straight into my bank!, this was a week ago and yes Glossops didnt disappoint still no refund forthcoming, honestly its like pulling teeth. The minute I get the refund I`ll reply on here but I won`t hold my breath. The frustrating and silly thing is for the sake of a small cheque they have lost a potential sale for a future new van but what the hell maybe they don`t care??
