can anybody recommend a course for reversing vans ,ihave just got my twin axel bailey home so need some professional help .Also when traveling do you keep the battery in the battery compartment (mine is in the side) and is this included in your vans weight or does it come into your mtwl
I can thoroughly recommend the CC course and I'm sure the C&CC one is just as good, they just didn't do one locally to us. At the end of the 2 days, we were all raring to go and feeling very confident. Money well spent.
They don't just cover the actual towing part but they also tell you about loading and that sort of thing.
I can second the previous replies, really worth the money, even the one day course with the cc. I spent a day near Preston and came away a lot more confident in reversing on to a pitch. I adapted what we were taught and find it easier to look over my shoulder and watch corner of van and alter steering accordingly. Small inputs, take your time and dont be afraid to start again if it goes pear shaped!. On your second point the battery stays in its compartment and is part of your 'essential users habitation' pay load which also includes things like the step, mains lead,water/waste carriers(empty!),gas bottles and the like.
Never having towed a caravan before doing the C&CC course I was able to bring my van home and reverse it onto my drive parallel to and only 6" away from the house.
Last year I did the one day CC course which I found very good. The whole experience was good and well worth the money. They were cheaper than the C&CC even thought I am a member. I now have much more confidence, I even impressed the wife!
------------- "A.C.L. - Three ways to tackle a problem. Accept it, Change it or Leave it."
I did the C&CC course - the following week had to reverse manouevre to allow an oncoming wide load through a narrow village road!! Took deep breath, thought about what we'd been shown on the course, and managed no problem at all!!
It was worth it just for that, but the confidence it gives you when you arrive on site is priceless.
