The thread on use of a BBQ in an awning raises in my mind an interesting point:
What is the maximum length of hose you can have from an external gas point?
I ask this because a dealer adamantly would only let me buy it in 2 metre lengths, saying he was not permitted to sell single lengths over the 2 metres.
Not enough in my case to go under the skirt and set the BBQ adequately clear of the awning. So despite having a gas point I still use a spare bottle.
I tried to search for any statutory regulation without finding any.
I can find recommendations in respect to hoses associated with regulators; 450 mm and 750 mm depending on bottle mounting, but not for our external gas points.
Any body know the legal situation or an authoritative organisations recommendation?
It is true that the supplier can only fit a 2 Meter length however,he can sell it in longer lengths for you to fit and take responsability for. I had the same problem but was able to buy the length I wanted because my current van has it fitted around the other side from the awning which is also a pain on some sites.

When I bought my pipe at a large caravan spares place in the midlands they told me the limit was 2m but as it was the "end of roll" I got about an extra 60 cm. My external gas point is right at hte front of the van so should be enough to go under awning and outside with a reasonable gap.
i was told that they can only sell 2 meters of pipe, to stop you from having pipe running all over your van or home ,health & saftey no doubt.
so 10 lenghts of 2 meter pipe connected by what ever means you like is not dangerous,
