Can anyone help? We have just been mis-sold an awning from ebay, by an unscrupulous seller. The awning skirt and wheel arch cover are missing, there are a couple of tears and the easy alloy up pole system has had some dubious repairs. Does anyone know where we might buy the missing/repaired parts to sell it on?
I have emailed Bradcot but no news so far.
Tried that, they wanted a police report to confirm the condition of the awning! The local police nearly laughed at me! Unfortunately Paypal do not appear to abide by the sale of goods act or trading standards qualities. So beware everyone out there, you are not protected even though they advertise that you are. They just awarded the seller my money today. Quite obviously dishonesty always pays. And guess what the seller told me "what did I expect it was a secondhand awning"! I expect an honest description and bought at a result of confirming condition in a separate email. Lovely & excellent condition it is not!
Thats terribly I have bought quite a lot of stuff from e bay and have been very lucky. Leave them a neg feed back and mark them down on bad communication and not as described, but people like that don't care.
You should see it! They have even sawn off the alloy poles and bodged them, they claim the awning is 3 years old - god knows what they have done with it! Now I have to try and sell it on, but rest assured I will note the faults and hope to get some money back.
She told me to buy a new one if I want one in perfect condition, surely just to have all the parts would help, and to have an informed list of defects would have steered me away!
What sort of awning is it. Some body on this site was selling a set of Bradcot poles, I made a awing skirt and wheel arch cover from a old Tarp, and we used some Tenacious tape, it fixes both canvas and the plastic (you will have to google that), its clear and we used it to fix a rip in the roof, I know it will cost yet more money but hope this helps, if I find the post about the poles I will let you know.
I think it was Tykey's poles I missed out on 'cos I couldn't establish which awning size and poles we needed 'til our first trip down lol!
Ok I rang Bradcot and you can buy everything you need from them. They do replacement grey slider/clip assemblies and poles so ring them, don't email them.
If it is of any help, we too have a Bradcot Classic with alloy poles, 2 of which were bent beyond repair in a freak gust of wind [not man made, lol] while taking it down. I contacted Bradcot who advised us to contact A1 Awnings for the spares [I think these must be their favoured aftersales supplier]. We have also ordered a new skirt from them as well after having the awning lengthened, not the original blue to match the awning as that was not cost pro-hibitive.
I think you're right about the Ebay link, but as you have said they seem to have stopped trading on there. Maybe Ebay costs were too much for them.
As far as I know they are still trading, but as the email I received from Bradcot referring me to them was in November last year I can not guarantee it.
A1 used to have a website as I have looked for spares on there before now and then ended up buying them from their shop on ebay. Can't find it now though so it certainly looks like they may have ceased trading. Does anyone know?
Shame if they have folded - I bought a bargain porch awning from them and have had a couple of spare brackets for my active awning. It's always reassuring to know there is somewhere you can easily get spares from if the worst happens!
As I said earlier, Bradcot themselves offer poles and clips direct. I rang them after we went to the van the other day and he gave me prices for various parts. You need the serial number which should be on the pole or canvas bag.
