Having been a manic 'detailer' for very many years I discovered that the paintwork on virtually all vehicle surfaces is very durable. It can resist all that is thrown at it.
I now use Fenwicks shampoo....and nothing else!
All polishes etc collect grime and have to be removed before a clean surface is shown again.
Initially it took a few shampoos before the vehicles were clean and before the water simply ran off. A car may require some leathering...but not much....generally only the glass.
By the way....if the roof is clean black streaks are virtually eliminated.
HTH.
PS. I've used this method on all the normal surfaces for about 3 years. (ABS, Fibre Glass, Aluminium and car bodywork.
