Hi can anyone tell me what hitch is fitted to the Bailey Senator Indiana 2006? I take delivery next Tuesday and need to buy securtity before then. I would also be interested to hear any suggestions for the best "value" locks. Many thanks
Yes it is an Alko stabiliser hitch. Do you know what model? Unfortnately the person who i'm buying the van from is on holiday and only returns the day before we collect the van. thanks .
Don't forget, if it's an Alko hitch, then you'll need the special Alko towball too, not just the standard 'as fitted' towball. You can buy them from most caravan dealers, and just bolt on, but this depends on your towbar.
If yor car has a Swan neck towbar your dont need anything else except to make sure ther is no grease on tow ball however if your car has a bolted tow ball this needs to be changed to a Alko type tow ball your local caravan dealer will be happy to advise after all you are a new customer. hope this helos

Ball is always same size, neck on bolt on flange type ball needs to be slightly longer so you probabley have one already unless you have swan neck towbar in which case the above dont apply.

What should have been explained is why the neck needs to be longer not the ball being any different.
The Alko have a lot of rubber at the front and generally have more metal in front of the towball receiver for the mechanical stuff. This means you need a longer distance between the car and the ball. On my Kia even though I dont need an extended ball for my winterhoff (although the newer ones also have a lot of rubber at the front) the plastic of the bumper reduces the room for the hitch so I put my extended neck (and a spacer) on to give me some room.
Get the van, then get the model of Alko then shop around, Alko's own are stupid money - I had a purple line hitchlock (Apache I think) for mine and it was very good indeed.
